Pancreatic Cancer Test Saliva from Water

Bacteria in your mouth one day be used as an early test for the diagnosis of pancreatic cancer.In onestudy, found that pancreatic cancer patients had higher levels of certain bacteria in the saliva, which is different from healthy people.

Because the study is small scale, ie, involving about three dozen patients, the results should be confirmed in larger groups. The study was published Wednesday, (12/10) in the journal Gut.

If these findings are confirmed, researchers may be able to recommend a good oral hygiene as a measure to reduce the risk of pancreatic cancer, said Farrell. Now, quitting smoking is one way known to reduce the risk of pancreatic cancer.
